Paul Stagg
Inducted 2017
In a career spanning six decades, Paul Stagg (Steigerwald) has been a mainstay of Minnesota’s broadcast industry in every possible role, every size market, and every type of format. From his start in 1957 as a 15-year-old, part-time announcer at KWLM in his home town of Willmar, to today, back at his KWLM roots, Paul Stagg has served Minnesota communities for virtually all of those 60 years in a career that has come full-circle.
After his start in Willmar, Stagg moved on to WDAY in Fargo, and then, in 1969, to the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, first with WWTC, then with WCCO Radio and Television, where he spent 18 years – as an announcer, music director, and program director. As general manager of WCCO-FM, he led the station’s conversion to WLTE. Stagg also worked at KLBB in St. Paul before returning to his hometown of Willmar and radio roots at KWLM in 2007.
Stagg has enjoyed a successful free-lance career, and has owned several radio stations in Minnesota, including KLLR in Walker, WQPM in Princeton, and WKLK in Duluth. Always Willmar’s first talent choice for charity events, Paul Stagg is a radio professional who believes in giving back and who shares his time and talent without hesitation.
