Joe Soucheray
Inducted 2017
Beginning in April 1993, Joe Soucheray has been the Mayor, the Fireworks Commissioner, the Flashlight King, and, on occasion, has volunteered at both Garage Logic High School and the University of Garage Logic, where he lectures on the disintegration of the Academy and the dangers of America’s cultural mystery. Those lectures sometimes carry over at the Knack Hardware and Lounge in downtown Garage Logic, located near the Common Surface Savings and Loan. Garage Logic is the seat of Gumption County and is surrounded by the communities of Liberal Lakes, Euphoria, and Diversityville, whose residents probably listen to Garage Logic but can’t admit it to their neighbors.
In addition to his duties as mayor, Soucheray has been a newspaper columnist for more than 40 years at the Minneapolis Tribune and is currently at the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Soucheray’s books include Garage Logic: A Companion Guide to Life in the Radio Town; Waterline: of Fathers, Sons, and Boats; Once There Was a Ballpark: The Seasons of the Met, 1956-1981; as well as Sooch! and Modern, Caring, Sensitive Male, both collections of newspaper columns, and with John Sandford, Mad River, a New York Times best-selling Virgil Flowers mystery.
