John Hines

One of the best-known personalities in Twin Cities broadcasting, John Hines has been a mainstay of Minnesota radio and television for more than 44 years. John’s career started in Normal, Illinois, before he moved home to WWTC-AM in 1973. In 1975 he joined Hubbard Broadcasting and Charlie Bush “in the morning” before moving to television, hosting Twin Cities Today on KSTP-TV, Channel 5. In 1981 he joined Bob Berglund at WLOL-AM, taking the station to Number One. In 1991 he went to K102-FM, where he remained for almost 17 years while helping to earn a Station of the Year award from the Country Music Association. Today he can be heard from 9:00 am till noon, Monday – Friday on WCCO-AM.

John Hines was the first non-journalist to be embedded with our soldiers in Iraq. He was once buried alive for 48 hours to aid the food shelves in our area and has worked with the M.S. Society, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Tee It Up For the Troops, benefitting many veterans’ causes. He also volunteers on behalf of his favorite charity, Wishes and More. He’s received the Tom Rivers Humanitarian Award in recognition of his generous service and dedication to community events and charities.
